Donating Stock

Donating stock from your business is a great way to help a charity and make the world a better place without any real cost to your business.

Why Donate?

Donating or stock from your business is a great way to not only feel good but also make a worthwhile contribution to and improve the world and your local community.

Donations may also improve your company’s reputation by demonstrating to customers that your business cares and takes pride in its surroundings.

How We Will Help You

We would like to hear from businesses to form an association with. There are several ways in which we would like to show our appreciation for your donating stock and having an association with us such as:

  • Media coverage.
  • Have your own slot on our website.
  • A sign of your business in the garden.
  • Handing out your literature on our open days and to the group visits.
  • Confirmation a letter for HMRC of the value of your stock donation

2.  The Alpine Garden.

You place a sign in the room you sponsor stating it is supported by your company,

HMRC There are arrangements in place by HMRC (Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs) to encourage charity giving by businesses by allowing them to claim back the cost of stock donations (or of direct financial sponsorship) via reduction of tax liability on net profits made to registered charities.

(i) Types of Allowed Donations: Charitable donations come in a lot of forms. When HMRC is looking at donations and how that may impact a company's corporation they accept the following donation types:

  • Money
  • Equipment or trading stock
  • Land, property or company shares
  • Employees
  • Sponsorship payments

(ii) Tax Relief If you give any of these items away to a charitable organisation, you’ll normally be able to claim tax relief  by deducting the value of your donations from your total business profits before you pay tax.

When you donate equipment or stock to charity, HMRC allows you to claim full capital allowances on the cost of that equipment

(iii) Land, Property, Shares: If you donate land, property or shares in another limited company to a charitable organisation, you might end up paying less Corporation Tax. (But it’s important to note that you can’t claim gifts or sales of shares in your own company).

(iv) V.A.T.: You can reclaim the cost of VAT on any stock or items donated to a registered charity.

We'd like to form an association with your company for mutual benefit. Get in touch to see how we can help each other.
