Managers for Conservation & Wildlife

Subjects

We have embarked on a major project to provide invaluable literature to the public on conservation, wildlife, and habitats. This is being achieved by our Conservation Managers. These are students from the Universities of: Bath, Bristol, Oxford, Bath Spa, West of England, Southampton who are researching and writing documents for the Trust.

Each appointee takes responsibility for each category (there are up to 18 different subjects in each category to choose from). The main classifications at present are:  :

(A) Mitigation measures.             (B) Renewable energy advantages/impacts.     (C) Re-wilding.

(D) Landscape restoring/protection/wildlife enhancement.        (E) Threats to species. Extinction. Climate Change.

 (F) Individual species/threats/decline.     (G) Damage to migration routes/breeding.                  (H)  Well being & nature. Housing etc.

(I) Loss/damage of Habitats/special landscapes.     (J) Pollution .   (K)Circular Economy.  (L) Landscape/Environment

 (M) Landscape re-wilding (N) Pollution Costs (O) Oceans & Waterways  (P) Landscape & Economy Impacts

The resultant documents will be made available to the public, and to schools, specialists, students, etc.  Research topics are grouped in various categories (16 so far) which comprise over 200 separate topics which the Trust will be researching via its student managers.

Structure

This is a remote role for all those concerned about climate change/wildlife/species decline/environment/rewilding.

As part of its ethos to give responsibility to young people, our charity has create posts  for individual to take full responsibility of a conservation category to create documents/guides/information sheets on conservation and wildlife. The post can operate remotely. Each post last for one university year part time. (i.e. you can work part time and fit it in with your university studies as and when you wish) but can be renewed.

The garden is organic and wildlife takes precedence. The Trust also has a code of practice with regards to rights of non-human life and sentience. In both the house and the garden the carbon footprint is being reduced and measures for ecological living undertaken.

The Trust has 16 Conservation major categories with each having up to 15 separate subjects available for research. Each manager will take charge of one category. and will research and write guides chosen from that selected list. But may also make suggestions of other subjects to be added to this exciting project  our Project. The finished material will be stored in the Trust archives and disseminated to the public. The manager will be given authorial credit. The material may be used in future publications by the Trust. The manager won't be able to complete work on all subjects- but can choose which subjects to work on. The post lasts for one academic year and an be renewed.

Such volunteering supports the SCGT but yields individual benefits such as: enhanced cv, developmental skills in a chosen areas connected to career choice, learning marketing/presentation/ communication/research etc skills. Volunteering will improve your skills and c.v. When recruiting staff employers often favour applicants who have done volunteering work.

On conclusion: (i) You will produce a final report on your achievements/role. (ii) Receive a testimonial from the Trust. (iii) Be able to list the Trust as one of your References for job applications.

Organisation

In each category there are up to 15 separate subjects. Each student chooses one category and works on writing a document on each subject.

Each manager post lasts for one 12 month academic year (but can be less: these posts are flexible). Then engages in this research in their free time- there is to be no distraction from commitment to their university studies. The student can continue for another year if desirous.

There is no deadline for submission of articles. There is no demand or expectation that a student will write on all the subjects in their chosen category.

Copyright remains with the author but the Trust retains the right to publish/copy/disseminate the material for educational purpose. Droite morale is always observed.

Mentoring is available. There is a guide for writing articles; and there are introductory  documents for both the Conservation and the Wildlife projects.

Employers often look for voluntary experience in applicants when employing new staff. Successful student managers may cite the Trust as a reference in future job applications. They may also request a testimonial. For university accreditation/awards etc. The Trust will also credit the student with hours worked/tasks undertaken
