Ingenieur-und Planungsbüro LANGE Gbr

The Stephen Cox Garden Trust is most grateful to Wolfgang Kerstan and the Ingenieur-und Planungsbüro LANGE Gbr

company  in Germany for their recent most generous donation.

This ensures the recommencement of our international scholarship scheme to enable students from Germany and other countries in the EU to come to Britain for residential study holidays, which also provides aspects of guided tours/excursions to places of historical & cultural significance,  participation with regional sporting teams,  and involvement with the local community. It also enables them to benefit from specialist English language tuition, as well as their studies  in horticulture, conservation and heritage with the Trust.

This donation will also enable various special projects to proceed.

Part of the mission of the Trust is to enhance international friendship, and enrich student opportunities and life experience to improve future citizenship and self improvement.

Although our placements are now fully booked for the rest of 2022, Students from Germany (and across the EU) age 18 to 28 are  welcome to contact the Trust and submit an application. to be considered for a placement in 2023.

Why Donate?

Sponsoring a charity can be of help to a company in a number of ways.  Businesses are increasingly seeing themselves not just as a business but as a part of the community and as a caring and integral part of society. Sponsorship includes the following advantages amongst others:

  • Raising a company's profile.
  • Provides it's employees and colleagues with a feel good factor and a sense of added pride in their work.
  • Makes a worthwhile contribution to and improve the world and your local community.
  • Demonstrates to the public, customers, clients, colleagues the "more than" factor.
  • The buying public and buying agencies are increasingly aware of the need for improvements to society and want to "do their bit" and are therefore tending to look at companies with core values which resonate with their own when considering a purchase.

Sponsorship may also improve your company’s reputation by demonstrating to customers that your business cares and takes pride in its surroundings , local community, and in society's needs.

The Values Your Company Will Be Associating With

  1. Conservation.

HMRC

There are arrangements in place by HMRC (Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs) to encourage charity giving by businesses by allowing them to claim back the cost of direct financial sponsorship of registered charities via reduction of tax liability.

(i) Types of Allowed Charity Giving: When HMRC is looking at donations and how that may impact a company's corporation they accept the following donation types:

  • Money/annual sponsorship
  • Equipment or trading stock
  • Land, property or company shares
  • Employees
  • Sponsorship payments

(ii) Tax Relief If you give any of these items away to a charitable organisation, you’ll normally be able to claim tax relief  by deducting the value of your donations from your total business profits before you pay tax.

(iii) Land, Property, Shares: If you donate land, property or shares in another limited company to a charitable organisation, you might end up paying less Corporation Tax. (But it’s important to note that you can’t claim gifts or sales of shares in your own company).
